The School of the Built Environment currently has over 80 PhD and MPhil students. Research projects range across the full breadth of the Built Environment spanning building and surveying engineering, civil engineering, and planning and housing. Students originate from a broad spectrum of undergraduate disciplines and ethnic origins. This wide skills base and diverse background knowledge provides a unique environment for the evolution of exciting multidisciplinary research.

PhD students play an active and enthusiastic role in the School through the Post Graduate Research Society. The society runs a number of mini conferences and seminars, arranges social events and provides democratically elected representatives on the School management committees.

For further information on postgraduate research, web pages are also available on PhD funding opportunities within the School.
